Born on January 7, 1934, in Amritsar, Punjab, Mohan graduated in Commerce (Honours) from the University of Delhi in 1953 and obtained a Law (LLB) degree in 1955, before becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant in 1956.

He came in contact with the Brahma Kumaris during 1955, and had risen to become secretary of Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation, a sister organisation of the Brahma Kumaris, and a member of the Apex Committee of the Brahma Kumaris.

From an early age, Mohan Bhai was inclined towards spirituality and studied numerous scriptures.

After coming in contact with the Brahma Kumaris and learning Rajyoga meditation, he underwent a complete transformation and took to celibacy, dedicating his life to public welfare.

Earlier, he had served in the Fertilizer Corporation of India (a Government of India enterprise) for a period of 17 years, and in the year 1973, he resigned from the post of Finance Manager and dedicated himself to the socio-spiritual cause of the organisation.

The organisation and the people known to him have said that his passing away has created a vacuum, which is very difficult to fill.
